Suggestions Box (Apr 2015)

Every month I list five things I'd like to see added, altered or abolished from the game. Because even though my long time of playing Restaurant Story clearly shows I love it, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Some of the ideas I'll air will be significant game changers while others will be low-key and irrelevant in the eyes of many of you readers.

In no particular order, here are this month's entries...

It's Earth Day, and so we're being treated to a second week of new content for the occasion!

Game update: 17/04/15

Whoa! What's this? An update post at the weekend? You bet!

Notification for new expansion

Out of nowhere there was a game update on Friday night which although not your typical kind of update did include something to cheer about - a NEW EXPANSION!

It's really a huge moment for Restaurant Story. We've not had a new expansion introduced in years, quite literally. Here are the requirements for the expansion to 24x27:

Game update: 15/04/15

Earth Day is next Wednesday, and this update gives you a chance to get set for the occasion!

Notification for Earth Day update

This is very much a decorative update, with all of the additions being either wall or floor decorations.

Android players are set for a new app for this update - keep an eye out for that at some point this week, as well as an in-game goal for downloading it.

Update: It's here! 'Restaurant Story: Earth Day' is on Google Play now and the download goal is also in operation. Thanks to Whipped Cream for the tip!

Here are all of the new items in list form, with everything unlocked at level 11:

RS2 News (Apr 2015)

After much pondering I've decided to cover Restaurant Story's sequel game - Restaurant Story 2 - on a regular basis, although this will only come in the form of a monthly round-up of all the latest goings-on.

It's been six weeks since I posted the final part of my big fat review of RS2, and there's lots has happened since then. Perhaps most significantly, goals have made their entrance, with Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day and Easter all covered.

Let's begin the analysis with the Valentine's Day content. The very first set of goals, everything revolved around gathering Valentine cards from Frank, who was a frequent visitor to our diners. I say frequent, but as the timer ticked down on the goals lots of players found that Frank's visits just weren't coming often enough. Waiting for him patiently proved a great challenge for many!

The cards could be used to unlock recipes on the Valentine Oven, an appliance dedicated to the romantic theme.

Rainy days goals content report

The rain has abated and the clouds have cleared, which means it's time to review the latest set of goals, which pertained to a rainy days theme.

I was away on a jolly this past weekend so expected to fall well behind with these goals, but somehow managed to pull through in time to post this report on schedule. Purchasing and building 15 of the second appliance may have played a role in that!

Let's get to it, starting with a quick thought on the structure of the goals. They don't come much simpler than this batch did, with only the one 'sidestep' en route to glory. And even that sideways goal was of limited use with nothing new to unlock for completing it!

Nevertheless there were four items could be obtained via the goals, starting with the Stormy Stove. The first of the new appliances, this cooker is rather bright in colour. The blue and gold exterior hides the fact that there are some serious recipes on board which have taken too long to be introduced to the game.

Rainy day goals (in full)

Please note that this set of goals expired on Thursday 30th April 2015.

In with this week's update is a new set of goals pertaining to the theme of rainy days.

Getting through these goals before the deadline is the only way to unlock two floor decorations, two appliances and six recipes. That deadline comes 30 days from the commencement of the goals, so unusually it's on a Thursday that the goals will expire, specifically Thursday 30th April.

Let's get going then! Here is the complete list of steps:

Game update: 01/04/15

It's the first day of April, and that means that not only is it April Fool's Day, but also the start of the April Showers.

This is a goals update, so anyone who has reached level 12 is going to be kept busy over the next while trying to unlock some of the new content. Here are all the additions:

Tables:
  • Rainy Day Table - 5,000 coins
