In a Restaurant Story first, we have goals released on a Monday! Introduced alongside a belated update, the Mardi Gras quest is a 15 day event which holds the key to unlocking two floor decorations, one appliance and six recipes.
It is expected that the goals will expire on Monday 13th March so it is recommended that you get through the various steps before this date.

Game update: 27/02/17
Let the carnival begin! Restaurant Story is still very much alive and kicking, and is set to celebrate the big old party that is Mardi Gras with not only an update but also a new set of goals.
A Monday update is by my reckoning a first for the game. Never before has new content been dropped at the beginning of the week, and we can only speculate as to why it has happened here. One possibility is that Monday is about to become the new update day.

Suggestions Box (Feb 2017)
Every month I list five things I'd like to see added, altered or abolished from the game. Because even though my long time of playing Restaurant Story clearly shows I love it, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Some of the ideas I'll air will be significant game changers while others will be low-key and irrelevant in the eyes of many of you readers.

Weekly update goes AWOL
As anyone who has played Restaurant Story for a reasonable amount of time will undoubtedly be aware, an in-game update is pushed out every Wednesday (18:30 GMT) with new content available to purchase. This has been a hallmark of the game over the years; indeed I don't believe a week has been missed since the weekly update became a regular feature.
That's until now. This past Wednesday players around the world patiently waited as usual for the release of a fresh set of decorations, perhaps some goals and maybe a sale or two. Instead there was nothing - weekly update went AWOL. The waiting game commenced, but at the time of writing we're still twiddling our thumbs. There has been no update up to this point, and no indication has been made by Storm8 as to when we can expect one to be rolled out.
There had been a couple of clues earlier in the week that something like this could happen. Firstly there was the absence of a teaser for the update on the Storm8 Blog. This was by no means a first, with teasers having occasionally been missed in the past, including a period in late 2015 where a teaser was actually a rare thing. Never on these occasions though was the update itself missing in action.

Valentine's Day 2017 goals content report
It's well overdue, but finally I'm here with the goals content report for the Valentine's Day themed quest which was released as part of the weekly update 10 days ago.
My tardiness is due to some serious scrimping when it comes to appliance buying. It's been the same for the last couple of goal sets, but my lack of willingness to invest in a number of each of the cookers is slowing my progress through the tasks considerably.
Having purchased just two Charming Grills and three Charming Ovens, I was able to avoid overspending on these goals, but at the same time it does mean a much longer process - I only finished the final step this morning!
At least I'm done, and that means I can offer some thoughts on the goals. As was the case with the cabin themed goals in January, this is a 15 day challenge which is shorter than what we've become used to over the years. Also add in the eight day effort last month and it does appear as if Storm8 are moving away from the traditional month long goals.

Game update: 15/02/17
This week's update is just about as America-centric as they come, with a tribute to Presidents' Day.
Presidents' Day is on the third Monday of February, and so this year lands on the 20th, this coming Monday. It is a federal holiday in the US, and honours George Washington, the first president of the United States.
Apologies to US readers for including that background - here in the UK we don't tend to do patriotic holidays!

Valentine's Day 2017 showcase
Happy Valentine's Day! Whether you are celebrating a rock solid long-standing relationship, have found a new love or are still a cherished member of the singleton community, take some time to enjoy a blend of wonderful Restaurant Story diners, who just so happen to be not only blog readers but also great neighbours of mine!
This showcase kicks off at A Quilted Café who is making a fourth showcase appearance.
If you don't find love here you won't find love anywhere! Regular readers will be familiar by now with the famous quilt woven from all manner of tables which stands as one of the iconic landmarks in the game. And yet it is little more than a backdrop at present, with some truly brilliant combinations of decor in front grabbing the attention.

Valentine's Day makeover at The Garlic Tree
Valentine's Day is this coming Tuesday, and so Cupid will be working overtime as unsuspecting folks learn of a secret admirer and couples indulge in a romantic evening. The truth of it is that Valentines is an excellent commercial opportunity, and The Garlic Tree is going all out to capture this significant market.
My restaurant has had a thorough makeover ahead of Valentine's Day, starting with the foyer.
Pink is the colour of the day, with the Light Bar wallpaper illuminated by Neon Hearts and Beads. While waiting for your table there's plenty to do, including having a glass of bubbly from the Date Night Drinks ice bucket while relaxing on the Pink Couch and watching the Flamenco Dancers go through their most risqué routines. Or if you'd rather you could just feed the Love Pug something from the Ice Cream Dream stand - he looks like he could do with some love!

Incorporated into the most recent update was a new set of goals, with Valentine's Day taking centre stage.
This is a 15 day quest, which means that you should make sure to complete it by Thursday 23rd February. Along the way you'll have the chance to unlock three floor decorations, two appliances and six recipes, so it is certainly worth giving the goals a go.

RS2 News (Feb 2017)
We've tiptoed into February, and so the time is ripe for another round-up of the latest goings-on in Restaurant Story 2. The past month has been all about recycling, with two cruise events and one quest all making use of content which has been seen before in the game.
The first such challenge was the Puppy Games cruise event launched on 5th January.
The merging of puppies and the Super Bowl into a single theme occurred 12 months ago with a traditional goal set. This isn't the first case of a past event being adapted for a cruise, and nor would it be the last. At least in the case of this theme there is some benefit to having multiples of some of the prizes - the likes of the Puppy Team A and Puppy Team B are cute individually, but when placed together you can actually form a proper squad to take on the Patriots and Falcons! Anyone who already owns a set of them has the prospect of doing just that with another collection.

Game update: 01/02/17
Super Bowl LI is just around the corner, and you can be sure that your restaurant will be packed out come Sunday for the climax of the American football season. So make sure that your sports crazed customers feel right at home!
The notification above calls it the Big Game Crate, but I'm going with the market's title of the Game Day Crate. Whatever the case, this chest is this week's only totally new addition, and is available at 50% off for a limited time. Usually boxes are a 24 gem investment but as a special treat for its release, this crate is just 12 gems.
