Game update: 30/03/16

It's update day and we're going all retro this week with a trip down to the retro diner.

Notification for Sock Hop Crate

Just like last week we've got a new box. The Sock Hop Crate will cost you 24 gems, and in exchange you will receive one of the eight prizes hidden within at random. There's a varied selection of stuff on offer so cross your fingers that your luck is in!

When I first saw this update teased on the Storm8 Blog I was full of excitement - the retro diner content which was originally introduced over the course of four weeks in September 2012 remain among my favourites, so if anything I'm just disappointed it's taken this long to add more. That was all before I discovered this was a crate though, and that simple fact has changed my opinion significantly.

The Chemist, the Cat and the Time Machine: Stop #1

After revealing last week that the Mad Chemist and his Lab Assistant had recently finished constructing a Time Machine which they planned to use for an almighty journey I think it's about time we put their creation to the test.

It turns out that the fuel the Chemist has spent so long concocting down in The Garlic Tree's basement is much more powerful than even he could ever have envisaged. Upon splashing a generous portion into the Time Machine's inner bowels, our pioneers clambered aboard and clung on for dear life. With an intense rattle and a thundering roar the world began to spin around them, and before they could pause for breath there was silence.

And it was a strange kind of silence. Not the type where there's a distant sound of cars humming by on a busy road or a solitary bird softly crowing from a distance, but the type where there is truly nothing. After a few moments of adjusting to his new surroundings, the Cat gathered with some alarm that they had found their way to the Dawn of Time itself.

Suggestions Box (Mar 2016)

Every month I list five things I'd like to see added, altered or abolished from the game. Because even though my long time of playing Restaurant Story clearly shows I love it, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Some of the ideas I'll air will be significant game changers while others will be low-key and irrelevant in the eyes of many of you readers.

You can share your own suggestions too via the comments. If I like them, I may even include them in the next instalment!

In no particular order, here are this month's entries...

Game update: 23/03/16

There's no doubt about it - Spring is officially here! Not because the Spring Equinox has passed but because there's a Sunflower Crate has been released in Restaurant Story!

Notification for Sunflower Crate

This is our box update for March, with a 24 gem investment getting you one of eight possible prizes from the new crate. Some are bigger and better than others - it's just your luck whether you bag one of the major items.

TGT Presents... The Chemist, the Cat and the Time Machine

I've been running this blog for more than three years now, and yet when you think about it, we've never really gone on an 'adventure'. Well, that is all about to change today, as I proudly announce the première of The Chemist, the Cat and the Time Machine.

Long time readers will probably know that it is at this time of the year that I tend to give my restaurant, The Garlic Tree, a complete makeover. Many of the quirks of my place are always maintained, but the layout is given a reboot, just to keep things fresh. Well, it's that time again, but on this occasion I've decided to spice things up...

Inspired by some of the quite brilliant storylines that my great neighbour Nibbles and Noms has conjured up in the past, I'm going to bring you a tall tale over the course of the next few weeks which you can follow right here on the blog.

Let's get straight to it, and our story begins at The Garlic Tree, but not in the usual surroundings. For the first time, I'm taking you downstairs to the basement, which turns out to be a more interesting place than you'd ever believe...

Game update: 16/03/16

It's time to rev up your engine and make your way to the start line, because this week's update is all about driving fast.

To gear up for the new Formula One season starting this weekend there is a selection of new content revolving around racing, with it all available from level 29. If you're playing on Android then the installation of a new version of the game from Google Play is necessary to bag the new stuff - it's called 'Restaurant Story: Hot Rod Cafe' and can be found here.

In the mean time let's have that ever so traditional list of additions:

Tables:
  • Race Checker Table - 3 gems
Chairs:
  • Drivers Seat - 10,000 coins

Bee goals content report

It's nearly a week since we were invaded by a swarm of bees courtesy of the latest goal set. Many players will have now completed the quest, and so it's high time we took a look at the content exclusively available via the various challenges.

And the review commences with the Honey Stove which is unlocked following completion of the opening goal. Lathered with honey, this is a sticky looking appliance, and joins the ranks of those which are of the fantasy variety. To build it you need 5 Honey Pot Knobs, 5 Brass Diverters and 5 Feather Fan Knobs. The first of these is one of two brand new parts.

RS2 News (Mar 2016)

We've marched into March, and it's time for another round-up of the activity in the sequel game, Restaurant Story 2.

The past month has featured four different events with the first of the those being the Puppy Bowl goals which were launched the Thursday before my last update. Just in time for the biggest sporting night of the year (if you're in the US!) this quest merged dogs with football.
