Inflation in the restaurant

Let's get technical. Inflation is regarded as a problem in Restaurant Story. It is suggested that with every update the price of the primary items is increasing, be it coin or gem content.

Well I've been going some research into this, and have recorded the prices of every table and counter added since May 2012. I may have missed one or two, but this data is enough to give a flavour of the extent of inflation in the game.

Here's a graph charting the cost of tables from the release of the Modern Asian on 31st May 2012 to the Spring Flower on 26th March 2014:

More news on Restaurant Story 2

Following on from the news that Restaurant Story 2 is on its way, a community manager over on the TeamLava Forum has provided the answers to some of the questions that may be on the minds of RS1 players:
Will Restaurant Story continue to get updates?
Absolutely! We have a very vibrant community of players and we hope you all will continue to enjoy your Restaurants for a long time. Restaurant Story 2 is a completely different game with loads of new features. We encourage you to try it out and enjoy playing both games! We will continue to provide content updates for Restaurant Story as long as there are players playing it!

Where are the Restaurant Story 2 forums?
The forums will be up when the game is available for all users to download and play on the available platform(s). Since the game is still in limited release, you can post in the Restaurant Story forums. The limited release allows us to work on additional polishes for the game, but also fix any bugs that get reported before releasing the game for everyone to try and play.

Restaurant Story 2 is in the works!

TeamLava have yet to give any official indication of this, but I am led to believe that a sequel to Restaurant Story is in the works, and could be launched very soon.

This story (pun very much intended) originates from a supplementary goal that first appeared in another TeamLava title, Castle Story, over the weekend. The goal asks the player to 'Reach Level 17 in Restaurant Story 2'.

Supplementary goal for Restaurant Story 2

However there's an issue here, because typically a set of supplementary goals starts by calling for the downloading of the game in question. Yet that hasn't been the case here, and rather mysteriously Restaurant Story 2 isn't available on either the iTunes Store or Google Play.

Now this obviously sends alarm bells off. Is there really such an app? Or has there been a catastrophic error on the gamemakers' part? And if this game does exist, then what will it contain and what of the future of the original Restaurant Story?

Suggestions Box (Mar 2014)

Every month I list five things I'd like to see added, altered or abolished from the game. Because even though my long time of playing Restaurant Story clearly shows I love it, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Some of the ideas I'll air will be significant game changers while others will be low-key and irrelevant in the eyes of many of you readers.

In no particular order, here are this month's entries...

Expanding into the garden

It's been seven months in the making, but I'm ready to explore the final frontier with the penultimate expansion to my restaurant, The Garlic Tree.

The reason it's taken so long to get to this moment is because I've been spending a lot of coins lately. Thanks to decorating for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day, I've not been able to acquire the necessary funds to enlarge my diner. But patience is everything in this type of game, and now I'm set to be rewarded.

My second-to-last expansion sees my restaurant reach 22x25 in size.

Game update: 12/03/14

Following last week's re-release of some St Patrick's Day content, we've now got an update dedicated to the Irish holiday.

Notification for St Patrick's Day update

In particular, this is a box update. The only new item is the Lucky Chest for 24 gems, which gives the player one of nine decorations at random, with varying degrees of probability.

For the first time in many months, we've got a teaser via the TeamLava Blog, which shows the box's goodies in all their glory:

Basketball goals content report

On Wednesday a new set of goals were released. Within there were six items to unlock plus six recipes. Since my game update post was released on the day the goals came out, I didn't have a chance to give much analysis of the goal content, so will so in this report.

Overall I'm not that excited by the stuff available. The Jumboscreen Counter is a nice idea, but looks daft because it should obviously be hanging from the roof. If you think about it nobody would really be able to see the screens properly as they'd be below waist height!

 05/03/14 Goals update

The Basketball Hoop Lamp is another item which doesn't enthuse me, not least because of the 32,000 coin price tag. With the focus in this update clearly on constructing a basketball court, we quite simply can't because the hoop can only be orientated two ways, which are 90 degrees apart. So you can't have a basket at each end of the court. And the lamp within the basket might also be a problem for the players...

Basketball goals (in full)

Please note that this set of goals expired on Monday 7th April 2014.

With the opening March update comes a new set of goals.

There are six items which are unlocked in these goals, including the usual two appliances, which means there are also six recipes to be uncovered. And there are 34 days to finish the goals, meaning that they'll expire forever on Monday 7th April.

Here is the complete list of goal steps:

March is here, and the focus is turning to the basketball court.

Complete with a new set of goals, this update revolves around one of the major North American sports, but as the notification indicates there's also a touch of green... Here's a full list of the new content:

The 50 gem question

You've been working hard for weeks to master recently added recipes, and have now accumulated 50 gems in your bag. So the question is, what do you do with them?

Well the first option is quite simple. Do nothing.

It may sound daft at first, but there's method in my madness. You see most of the limited time offers (which these days come just about every week) cost between 30 and 40 gems. So it might be wise to hold on to those gems until an LTO which you fall in love with comes up.
