April 2015 showcase

The curtain is rising once again, and the audience cheers loudly as another Restaurant Story showcase is unveiled!

Ladies and gentleman, I am proud to present the fifth showcase post in which I offer up a glimpse at the glorious diners my great neighbours have put so much time and effort into shaping. On this occasion there are six participants, including two budding debutants. So let's turn on the spotlight and get straight into the first act...

We commence this spectacle with a seasoned player who will have no fears in kicking off the show. Fat Bear is in town once again, and has got a very busy layout at present.

Game update: 27/04/16

There will be no shenanigans in this week's update post. We're all going to be posh and proper as we take in a high end dining theme.

Notification for high end dining update

Get in you beauty! I'm always crowing about sophisticated décor and bemoaning the lack of it. So this update is right up my street. There are only eight additions, but that doesn't stop me from making an ever so traditional list, with all the stuff up for grabs at level 32 (thanks Fat Bear!):

Chairs:
  • Silver Chiavari Chair - 6,000 coins

Spanish goals content report

Over the past week we've all been going Spanish with a new batch of goals, and now is the time to have a look at the various goodies which were unearthed by working through the quest.

We'll start with the Spanish Stove which was unlocked upon completion of the opening goal. As ever the harvesting of some parts was a necessity, with 6 Yellow Steel, 6 Brass Diverters and 4 Spanish Knobs needed to construct the new appliance. The last of these is the first of two new parts introduced with these goals.

The Chemist, the Cat and the Time Machine: Stop #5

It's time to time travel again, and with the Mad Chemist and Lab Assistant nicely tanned from their visit to Ancient Egypt, they're feeling revitalised and ready to cause another rupture in the space-time continuum. With a rumble and a loud crack (some of which was provided by the newest crew member, the Island Drummer) the Time Machine was on its way.

Dizzy from the journey, our pioneers found the scene awaiting them at the latest stop to be the perfect sight for sore eyes. With a focus on peacefulness and serenity, our crew had arrived in Ancient Asia!

Spanish goals (in full)

The goal set for April offers up a taste of Spain, with plenty of lavish decorations introduced alongside this week's update, and they give a fine impression of Spanish culture.

The goals provide the key to unlocking three floor decorations along with two appliances, including six new recipes. You've got 30 days to finish the quest so there's no shortage of time, but be sure to complete all the various stages by Thursday 29th May.

Here is the complete list of steps:

The Chemist, the Cat and the Time Machine: Stop #4

The sun wasn't all that prominent when the Mad Chemist and the Lab Assistant were stopped at the Ice Age, so they had high hopes that their next destination in time would offer a little more warmth and bright sunshine. Following another glug of fuel, the Time Machine ensured that their wishes were fulfilled.

Upon arrival, the crew found themselves at the centre of a large expanse of sand and under a blazing heat. A brief glance around soon confirmed that the explorers had touched down in Ancient Egypt!

Suggestions Box (Apr 2016)

Every month I list five things I'd like to see added, altered or abolished from the game. Because even though my long time of playing Restaurant Story clearly shows I love it, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Some of the ideas I'll air will be significant game changers while others will be low-key and irrelevant in the eyes of many of you readers.

You can share your own suggestions too via the comments. If I like them, I may even include them in the next instalment!

In no particular order, here are this month's entries...

The Chemist, the Cat and the Time Machine: Stop #3

Having spent some time building up a sweat in the jungle, the Mad Chemist and Lab Assistant are looking for somewhere to cool down, and hence have adjusted the dials and set the Time Machine in motion again. With a snap and crackle they rip their way through space and time before the bitter cold hits.

As far away from the closeness of the animal kingdom as could be, our voyagers have landed amid the event which wiped out the dinosaurs and reshaped the world forever. This is the Ice Age!

Appalling app updates investigated

App updates for iOS don't come around all that often, and recently I've fallen out of the routine of making dedicated posts for them. As a result the most recent app updates have not really had the comprehensive analysis on here that I usually strive to provide, so after some encouragement from long time reader and commenter DonY, I've put together this summary of all that's gone down in recent months, and it affects Android players as well as iOS users.

The tale really starts way back in June 2015, when we got the update to version 1.7.6. This became a classic app update, but for all the wrong reasons. The download description claimed that the new edition would bring with it 'bug fixes' and 'performance improvements', except that it did the exact opposite.

The Chemist, the Cat and the Time Machine: Stop #2

After spending some time taking in the wonders of the early solar system, the Mad Chemist and the Lab Assistant have again boarded the Time Machine and ignited the burners. Their aim with this ripping of the space-time continuum was to find some solid ground a little closer to home, and with a blend of Rocket Fuel Punch they soon achieved that.

After the queer quiet of outer space it was the sounds of the Chemist and Cat's second destination which hit them first ahead of the sights. There were regular and random chirps and growls, the slop of disturbed water and the low hum that could mean only one thing: the time travellers had reached the jungle!

RS2 News (Apr 2016)

Here we go with more news from the ever so busy Restaurant Story 2. Since my last review we've completed a cruise event, started another and gone all Irish.

We begin with the Easter Cruise Catering Event which begins a run of out of place updates. Easter was last weekend, and yet we got this event at the very beginning of March. This was a little surprising, but at least it meant we could have all our Easter décor ready to go for the ceremonies.
