Notification for Halloween 2017 sale |
I was speculating just the other day as to whether we'd get a Halloween sale this year, and now we have the answer in emphatic fashion! There's 21 days on the clock to take us right up to Halloween itself, so plenty of time to decide how you're going to spook your place up this October.
It's a fairly big effort too, with 42 items given the orange frame treatment, including five boxes which are rated at 50% off. Those crates are the Halloween Chest, Spooky Chest, Mystery Mummy Chest, Monster Crate and Classy Halloween - the full spectrum of Halloween themed boxed to have appeared in the game.
Everyone will have their own opinion with regards to which of these crates is the best choice, but for me the classics are the best. The Halloween Chest was first released all the way back in 2011 and is the home of the Werewolf Cage and Spooky Fireplace among others.
Meanwhile the Spooky Chest would earn many players' vote for the greatest box of all time. It's first and second prizes include the Vampire Bartender and Zombie Butcher - both absolute Halloween classics.
If you've got any gems leftover after a box splurge there's no shortage of further options to complete your Halloween setting. However the focus seems to be away from floor decor, which I guess Storm8 feel is well covered by the crates. There's just seven floor items have been offered, and with five of them for gems you can't exactly say that this sale is a belter for those players who are either strapped for gems or saving for Black Friday.

At least you can top up big time on plenty of other stuff, with five entities available for each of the remaining categories, with the exception of the appliances. And plenty of this content can be obtained for coins.
To be honest the main feeling I have right now is of sadness for those players who do not own the magnificent Haunted House, Haunted Clock Tower and Trick or Treaters. The former in particularly seems to have been a mainstay of Halloween sales down the years, which makes its absence this time puzzling. Of course there's always an outside chance that another sale could come our way before the 31st, but that is very much a long shot.
Nevertheless a sale is a sale and it's nice to see it released in a separate update from the goals after having had a moan about this very topic in the last edition of the Suggestions Box. It just feels like we're getting a more complete Halloween experience having now had something worth discussing in successive weeks. Ideally we'd have another update next week too - maybe a crate given that these are almost a guarantee for Halloween? Imagine that, a non-goals update - now that would be scary!
That does it for this Halloween bonanza. We hoped for it and now we've got it. It's not the perfect sale but there should hopefully be something of interest for everyone and given that I still haven't gotten round to revamping my own restaurant for Halloween the timing is impeccable for me. Now I just need to get tapping and introduce some terror into my diner!
