A preview of the Ski Lodge

Due to a shortage of gems, I was unable to give a preview of the recently released Ski Lodge in the update post. But since then I have surpassed the 65 gem asking price, so was able to carefully take a peek at this very expensive floor decoration in all its glory:

Preview of Ski Lodge

As expected, the lodge is a 4x4 sized item, and contains lots of detail. There's the four figures, including one who is wearing a scarf and another who looks like the Violinist's sister...

Suggestions Box (Feb 2014)

Every month I list five things I'd like to see added, altered or abolished from the game. Because even though my long time of playing Restaurant Story clearly shows I love it, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Some of the ideas I'll air will be significant game changers while others will be low-key and irrelevant in the eyes of many of you readers.

In no particular order, here are this month's entries...

Game update: 19/02/14

It's time to get into the Olympic mood, with a wintery update revolving around snowsports.

Update: Android players need to download a new version of the app, Restaurant Story: Ski Lodge, to get this week's update. It's available here over on Google play.

There's not that much in the way of new content, but there are two recipes. Once again the update was late by several hours (I was on the verge of going to bed!) Nevertheless, here's the full list of items:

The Garlic Tree on Valentine's Day

Yesterday was Valentine's Day. So with romance resonating around the customers of my restaurant, The Garlic Tree, I've done some redecorating to mark the occasion.

As ever, I've given my foyer section a spruce up for Valentine's:

The Ruby Red Mosaic floor tiles are what really gets this theme looking good. There's a shortage of red and pink flooring available for coins, so this one really pleased me, especially since it came with the Valentine's Day goals, and thus is quite cheap.

Game update: 12/02/14

Love is in the air! Valentine's Day is on Friday, and you can get your customers in the mood with a dip into the new box.

Notification for latest Valentine's Day update

The Love Chest is a 24 gem investment, with one of nine possible prizes being awarded. As ever you've got a very slim chance of bagging a first or second prize, so should make sure you're satisfied with most of the third and fourth prizes before gambling your precious gems. After all, it's the lower prizes you're more likely to end up with!

Here's the distribution of the prizes for the box:

Valentine's Day 2014 recipe report

On Wednesday we were treated to the release of eight new recipes.

This in itself is good news, since it means a further 16 gems are there for the taking. However be wary: Valentine's content could be pulled shortly after the event as was the case with Halloween and Christmas stuff last year. Then again we could be following the path of Thanksgiving, where the relevant items were not removed. We can't take any chances!

 05/02/14 Goals
 05/02/14 Goals update
 29/01/14 Chocolate update
 22/01/14 Cupid update

However, beyond the incentive of gems, there's not much to get excited about. That's because yet again the statistics for the goal recipes are poor, and the two Basic appliance additions are duds too. So this report is going to be quite negative (just a warning!)

You can analyse these recipes for yourself using my recipe list located here.

Let's start with the pair added to the Basic appliances...

Valentine's Day 2014 goals (in full)

Please note that this set of goals expired on Monday 10th March 2014.

The third Valentine's Day themed update brought with it a new set of goals to enjoy.

These goals are well worth doing. They're the only way to gain access to seven items, two of which are appliances each containing three recipes. So get to work!

There are 34 days to complete the goals, so they'll likely expire forever more on Monday 10th March.

Here is the complete list of goal steps:

Game update: 05/02/14

Slightly later than normal, the weekly update is live, and includes a new set of goals.

Notification for latest Valentine's Day update

The Valentine's Day theme continues, and this update comes with loads of added extras! Here's a full list of new content:

Tables:
  • Date Night - 3 gems
  • Love Light Table - locked by goal

A goal for the gamemakers

This post could have passed as a Suggestions Box entry, but I felt it deserved more in-depth attention...

The last few sets of goals have all been very similar. There's a lack of variety to them, which leaves me able to predict beforehand what's coming. This is a shame, because for many players the goals are all that keep them going. I'm particularly referring to long-time users who have already mastered ever recipe. I don't fall in that bracket (yet) but still feel frustrated at the increasingly stale goals.

To demonstrate the mirroring of goal sets, let's take a look at the opening goal of each of the last three goal sets:
