As well as all these treats there's two new recipes on the basic appliances to get our teeth into. Excellent!
And I have to say that the items in this update are top-notch. As is the way with goal updates, there are few gem items in sight, but even those have my heart racing! Firstly there's a limited time offer.

The Romantic Dinner costs 41 gems, and fills up a 4x4 space. Here's a glimpse of how it looks full size:

The other floor decoration available for gems is the Valentine Candy.

Away from the gem buys there's still lots to go for in the market. Beware though that much of the new items are required for the goals, so it may be wise to hold back from purchasing until you reach the relevant stage of the goals. From the tiny thumbnails in design mode the three goal prizes in the floor decorations tab are all ace.
The Ruby Award Booth is undoubtedly the final goal prize and appears to have the same romantic dinner set-up as the LTO. Maybe a nice alternative if you don't want to part with the gems? And even the Love's Eternal Flame looks warm and cosy. Who needs a date at the movies when you've got one of those at home?!
To unlock these swell decorations you're going to have to work through the Valentine's Day goals.
Introduction to Valentine's Day 2014 goals |
Before I boil over again let's turn back to the new content. There are two sets of tables and chairs, with the Date Night table and Date Night chair both costing gems. But this is balanced by the Love Light Table and Ruby Red Chair being for coins; in fact the former is a goal prize. I quite like the sleekness of the Ruby Red Chair while the Love Light Table may combine nicely with the pink stuff released during last year such as the Glowing Light Box and Modern Circle Art.
On the structural side of things there are two new floor tiles and one new wallpaper. The Heart Floor for a gem a go looks a bit naff for me, but the Ruby Red Mosaic is both cheap and classy in my opinion. It's the closest yet to a red floor tile, and may work wonders for my ever developing romantic section of The Garlic Tree.
The Ruby Red Wallpaper brings further elegance and grandeur to the occasion, another possible piece to add to my shopping basket.

The two new wall decorations are the Heart Lights and Love Candy. The Heart Lights actually put me in mind of a bunch of balloons arranged in a heart shape, a bit similar to the idea behind the Memorial Day Wreath. Not a good grading for the design team there then! The Love Candy is expensive for what it is, but is quite cute all the same.
The two new recipes are the Sweet Pea Soup on the Basic Stove and the Sweetie Pie on the Basic Oven. A full recipe report for all eight new dishes will be posted in the coming days, but at a glance I declare these two recipes as duds. Get your mastery gems and run!
Also recipe related, the two Basic Oven dishes which were added a fortnight ago have been moved down the recipe list. You'll now find the Cupid Cupcakes and Cutie Pie in-between the Cupcakes and Countdown Cookies.
In summary a superb update - probably the best since the opening Halloween offering, which incidentally also suffered with a delay in release. Love is finally blossoming in Restaurant Story after a pair of underwhelming romantic updates, and we're all getting ready to welcome the lucky couples to our diners!
