The Garlic Tree at Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is next Friday, so I've decorated for the occasion, with the update on 8th January providing a great selection of items for celebrating the year of the horse. Further to this, I've also used up a lot of gems to formulate two completely new sections to my restaurant. So let me give you a tour of The Garlic Tree in it's current guise...

So as I did for Halloween and Christmas, I gave my foyer area a makeover for Chinese New Year:

My heart's aflutter! Valentine's Day content is here in Restaurant Story, although this opening update is a small one.

Just six items have been added, however there are two recipes which have also been introduced. Here's the usual list:

Suggestions Box (Jan 2014)

Every month I list five things I'd like to see added, altered or abolished from the game. Because even though my long time of playing Restaurant Story clearly shows I love it, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Some of the ideas I'll air will be significant game changers while others will be low-key and irrelevant in the eyes of many of you readers.

In no particular order, here are this month's entries...

Game update: 15/01/14

It looks like we're in the void between Chinese New Year (even though it hasn't happened yet!) and Valentine's Day.

Notification for Twisted update

That is because this week's update is twisted. No really - the theme is twisted. There are only a few items available with this 'out there' theme, but here's a list nevertheless:

Chinese New Year goal recipes report

This past Wednesday saw a Chinese New Year update which brought with it a set of goals. Among the items to unlock via these goals are two appliances, which each carry three recipes. This means that there are six dishes have been added, and here I shall provide some insight into the quality of their respective statistics.

You can analyse these recipes for yourself using my recipe list located here.

Firstly there is the Chinese Dessert Oven...

The partying never stops!

Chinese New Year update notification

Don't let the notification fool you. There is a new Winter themed box, but the main theme of this update is Chinese New Year! That's right - right on the heels of celebrating the start of 2014, we're now ready for Chinese New Year in Restaurant Story, complete with a new set of goals. Here's a list of everything added to the game:

Chinese New Year goals (in full)

Please note that this set of goals expired on Monday 10th February 2014.

With the Chinese New Year update came a new set of goals.

There are six new items which can be unlocked by completing the goals, so it's well worth a peek. Plus two of those items are appliances, meaning that there are recipes to be unlocked too.

You have 34 days to finish the goals, so they'll expire on Monday 10th February. To gain access to the locked content, you must achieve the goals by this deadline.

Here is the complete list of goal steps:

Winter content removal review

On Saturday I posted about an in-game notification that all 'Winter holiday items' would be removed from the market today.

Notification for 'winter holiday items' content removal

Well the deed is done. The removal took place earlier this evening, and the news is mainly good.

The leading story is that only Christmas content was pulled. I suspected that Winter 2013 and New Year 2014 stuff was in the firing line, but it all survived, as did everything else that has been added over the last 12 months, including Valentine's Day and Thanksgiving items from last year.

So here's the lowdown of all content removed on Tuesday 7th January 2014...

Winter content removal announced

The time has come. After my weeks of preparation through posts counting down to a content removal, an in-game notification has confirmed that such a brutal act will be carried out this coming Tuesday.

Notification for 'winter holiday items' content removal

And so the speculation begins. Throughout those posts I've always stressed that any selection of the listed content could go, with the lists themselves also not exhaustive. And I continue to emphasise this now.

'Winter holiday items' scream (or carol) of Christmas. So I fully expect all Christmas content to be pulled on the 7th. But this may not be the end of the terror. Because there were three Winter updates around the time of the last mass content removal in January 2013. The items from these updates are still active in the game, so there is a possibility that they will be removed too.
