Christmas 2015 goals (in full)

Please note that this set of goals expired on Wednesday 6th January 2016.

The bells are ringing in Christmas, and that means goals in Restaurant Story! Along with the second update of the festive season is a new set of goals which celebrate this most wonderful time of the year.

The clock indicates that 29 days are available to complete this quest, meaning that the end date should be Wednesday 6th January 2016. By this time you'll hopefully have gained access to a new table, two floor decorations and two appliances, as well as six recipes.

So without any further ado, here's the complete list of goal steps:

 Step 1: Signs of Snow

  • Buy 12 Snowy Night Wallpapers ... any wallpaper is acceptable.
  • Buy 14 Snow Gust Floor Tiles ... these cost 4,300 coins each.
Step 1: Signs of Snow
Once you've made those initial purchases the Open Fire unlocks.

Unlocking of Open Fire
This is the first of two appliances attainable in these goals, and will need to be bought in Step 2.

 Step 2: Keep Warm

  • Build 1 Open Fire ... this costs 23,600 coins and requires 5 Brass Diverters, 5 Mallets and 5 Winter Handles to build. Note that the Winter Handle is a new part which can be gifted.
  • Serve 12 Roast Beasts ... these are found on the Open Fire and take 1 hour to prepare.
Step 2: Keep Warm
After all those beasts are served the second recipe on the Open Fire opens up.

Unlocking of Hearty Stew
The Hearty Stew is a 2 hour dish and is at the centre of Step 3.

Step 3: Pile on the Snow

  • Serve 14 Hearty Stews ... these are found on the Open Fire and take 2 hours to prepare.
  • Buy 1 Jack Frost ... this costs 4,800 coins.
Step 3: Pile on the Snow
By completing this step the Roasted Duck loses its padlock.

Unlocking of Roasted Duck
This is the last of the foods on the Open Fire and is the focal point of Step 4.

 Step 4: Roast it Right!

  • Serve 16 Roasted Ducks ... these are found on the Open Fire and take 3 hours to prepare.
  • Buy 4 Frosty Counters ... these cost 17,000 coins each.
Step 4: Roast it Right!
For your efforts with those ducks the Icicle Table becomes available.

Unlocking of Icicle Table
You'll need to buy this table in a later goal. For now Step 5 pops up, which is the request based goal.

 Step 5: The Wishlist

  • Visit 15 Community Members ... neighbours are not counted.
  • Ask Neighbours for 6 Quills ... tap 'Ask' and send requests for these to neighbours.
  • Ask Neighbours for 6 Parchments ... tap 'Ask' and send requests for these to neighbours.
Step 5: The Wishlist
Upon conclusion of this goal the second new appliance unlocks.

Unlocking of Chocolate Stove
One Chocolate Stove is given to you free, but another will need to be bought and built in Step 6.

 Step 6: Chocolate Dreams

  • Build 2 Chocolate Stoves ... this costs 38,200 coins and requires 5 Chocolate Cogs, 5 Pocket Watches and 5 Golden Stakes to build. Note that the Chocolate Cog is a new part which can be gifted.
  • Serve 20 Reindeer Pops ... these are found on the Chocolate Stove and take 4 hours to prepare.
  • Buy 1 Frozen Garlands ... this costs 8,900 coins.
Step 6: Chocolate Dreams
Predictably, the Snowman Cocoa now opens up.

  • Serve 24 Snowman Cocoas
Step 7: Cocoa and Mittens
Now the Nutcracker is unlocked.

This floor decoration needs to be purchased in Step 8.

 Step 8: Deck Your Halls

  • Have 4 Icicle Tables ... these cost 10,200 coins each.
  • Have 4 Snow Chairs ... these cost 2,100 coins each.

  1. So, going through your walkthrough inspired not one, but two ideas for your suggestions box:

The first: It would be great if we could get a progress bar displayed for these goals, so players are aware from the get-go how many steps they need to complete. It doesn't look like goals have side steps anymore, like they used to, and S8 has already shown this can be done with other goals in the game (like the one that popped up when Frozen Frenzy Mania was a download goal, with the Ice Cream Truck as the end prize). It would also be a nice way for newer players to know that they have ~30 days to do more than simply buy some wallpaper and flooring, as some newbies I know get confused by.

The second idea: it would be great if we could get some pre-programmed 24-hour daily quests, like the kind we get in RS2. Like the ones in RS2, they could be level-specific, and offer coin rewards (maybe gems for harder challenges) for cooking specific quantities of certain recipes on the three basic appliances. It would give us something to do between goals, and also keep people like you, who go through the goals relatively quickly, engaged in the game. Best of all, the programming already exists for this to be done across Android, iOS, and Kindle!

It might be wishful thinking at this point, since RS seems to be slowly moving out of S8's main area of focus, but we've seen a lot of new features in the game this year (seasonal sales, the introduction of bundles, value packs, gem appliances, more new appliances than ever before, etc), so this could be a great way to start 2016 in RS (and possibly BS too).

Hope these might make their way into your suggestions :)

    1. We actually had the progress bar for goals right back when I started in 2012. It was exactly the same format as the ones that were used for the Frozen Frenzy Mania goal, and I have no idea why they decided to do away with it. I guess it must have been the addition of sidesteps. But with those seemingly done away with, I agree that they'd be a welcome return.

Love your daily goals idea! I've never bothered with the ones in RS2 since they're so demanding (might put some effort in once I've mastered more recipes!) but there's definitely scope for some daily challenges.

I'll note down both of these, but they're too late for the next edition of the Suggestions Box which is out later on today. Don't worry though, you've had an influence on one of today's entries, even if you don't know it yet! :)
