Game update: 11/04/17

Egg-cellent! Now that I've got that overeggs-posed pun out of the way, let's delve into an uneggs-pected Easter sale which was released earlier today in Restaurant Story!

Notification for Easter 2017 sale

Much like with the St Patrick's Day sale of eggs-actly four weeks ago, this update consists entirely of re-released content. With only nine items included, the lack of Easter coverage down the years is made fairly stark. Indeed I reckon that we've only ever had two Easter themed updates - one of those was in 2012 and the other consisted of only the Easter Chest. Nevertheless, here is a pretty picture of those orange framed goodies:

Easter 2017 sale items

There are six days on the clock for this sale with the limited time specials eggs-pected to eggs-pire on Easter Monday.

Among the deals is the Basket of Eggs which is a notable inclusion because it was a limited time offer in that 2012 update. Therefore, unless I am mistaken, this is only the second time it has ever appeared in the game! At 16 gems for a 1x1 floor decoration this is an eggs-tortionate buy, so I doubt there will be many takers, but then I suppose that makes it all the more rare a piece to own.

Meanwhile the three recipes on the Egg Stove were initially labelled as being around for six days only. This was an error by Storm8 which has now been rectified so anyone who has purchased this appliance prior to the sale's end will continue to have access to the dishes beyond the deadline. Although given the relatively poor recipe ratings for this trio that wouldn't have been the end of the world - the Egg Bread is particularly disappointing, ranking 19th out of 24 entries in the 16 hour duration.

So all in all this is a nice update, but not one that could be sorted into the eggs-ceptional category. The Easter stuff is very cheery which does raise my mood (for eggs-ample the Spring Chick has to be one of the cutest items ever!) but the small number of items included does take off some of the gloss.

It will be interesting to see if special sales like this are going to be a regular thing under the new less frequent regime. If less content is being produced then it would make sense to push out more re-releases, but now that St Patrick's Day and Easter have been covered I'm not sure that there are many seasonal themes coming up which have been given the treatment in the past for which the gamemakers could come up with a set of deals.

Right that does it. Forget your Easter eggs hunt folks - you'll spend all of Easter weekend doing an Easter pun hunt in this post!
