Game update: 18/04/13

After two weeks of Spring related updates including a set of goals, we are moving on to a Mexican theme. This update is a day later than was planned (it was supposed to be released on Wednesday but was delayed due to some 'issues').

Notification for Mexican update

This is a good choice of theme in my opinion, since there are plenty of Mexican-related items TeamLava could throw at us. Although I do wonder if this was supposed to come out around the time of the Western theme. As always, here is the full list of new content:

Tables:
  • Fiesta Table - 3 gems
  • Twirling Table - 2 gems
Chairs:
  • Fiesta Chair - 12,000 coins
  • Twirling Chair - 14,000 coins
Wall decorations:
  • Sombrero - 10 gems
Floor decorations:
  • Perro - 16 gems
  • Mexican Dancer- 25,000 coins
Wallpapers:
  • Cinco de Mayo - 5,000 coins
Flooring:
  • Tile Mexicana - 1 gem
Counters:
  • Twirling Counter - 10 gems
  • Fiesta Counter - 40,000 coins

Both sets of tables and chairs are cool, so it's a shame that the tables cost gems. At least the chairs are not too expensive compared to some of the recent chair releases.

Meanwhile the Sombrero is a must for a Mexican theme, even if the 10 gem price tag may put many (including myself) off.

What I may go for though is the Mexican Dancer. as I've said before, I love having actual people in my restaurant, and she's got the moves to have a stint in The Garlic Tree dancing along to the String Quartet!

Mexican Dancer moving in beat to the String Quartet in The Garlic Tree!

Now for some educating. Perro is the Spanish word for dog - I don't think the dog available here is any particular breed although it is wearing a little green hat! If you already own some of the dogs and cats currently on the market then the Perro will be very attractive, even at 16 gems.

Another learning curve (at least for someone in the UK like me) comes in the possible explanation for the dog's hat. May 5th is Cinco de Mayo, a holiday celebrated in the US and Mexico in honour of Mexico's heritage. This leads me to believe that we could be getting another batch of Mexican themed updates in each of the next two weeks leading up to the celebration.

If we do, there's plenty of Mexican recipes could be added in addition to the already existing Burritos and Quesadilla. Personally I'd love to see fajitas added to the game! Plus there's lots more decor choices such as cactuses and something relating to bullfighting even.

So keep your eyes peeled for more Mexican stuff in the coming weeks hopefully!
