It's back to the recipe ratings trail this weekend with the 6 hour dishes under the spotlight.
Firstly some general information. There are 34 recipes of 6 hour length in total. However of these 13 are goal recipes and six are either removed or on removed appliances. That leaves only 15 dishes which are standard recipes available to all.

Getting into individual foods then, we'll start with the profit and portions factors. In the case of the 6 hour bracket these two variables come hand-in-hand as only the Burritos (Basic Stove) doesn't offer 4 coins per plate. There are two dishes which rise to the top, and by some margin:
Kiwi & Cake | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Profit | XP gain | Portions | Profit per plate | Availability | Rating |
10 | 1 | 10 | 10 | 5 | 7.1 |
Fish Sticks | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Profit | XP gain | Portions | Profit per plate | Availability | Rating |
10 | 1 | 10 | 10 | 6 | 7.1 |
The Kiwi & Cake (Basic Oven) and Fish Sticks (Orange Deep Fryer) are evenly matched, and crucially are well ahead of the next best profit and portions recipe. The only difference in their ratings comes from the availability side of things, with the Fish Sticks unlocked at level 46, whereas the Kiwi & Cake isn't available until level 51.
But there is a clear downside to this pair of contenders. They each yield a low XP gain, meaning that they both take a real dent in their pursuit of the Hall of Fame position. So is there a food out there which has an impressive XP number which allows it to compete with these two? Well it won't come as much of a surprise to hear that the Technicolor Cake (Basic Oven) is the leader in this factor:
Technicolor Cake | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Profit | XP gain | Portions | Profit per plate | Availability | Rating |
6 | 10 | 6 | 10 | 3 | 7.5 |
Released only a few weeks ago, this cake gives more than double the XP of the next best recipe, the Escargot (Basic Stove). As I've discussed at length, the cake has a strange set-up, with the majority of the XP given for preparing it rather than for serving it when cooked on the Easy Oven. It is a beast of a dish, with no other potential overnight food anywhere near yielding the 43 XP per hour that the cake does. To earn as much XP per hour from elsewhere requires a drop down to the short recipes which may not be feasible for busy lives.
Considering that the Technicolor Cake is the fifth best profit and sixth best portions dish in the duration you'd maybe expect better than sixes in the ratings stakes. But there is a large gap from the Kiwi & Cake and Fish Sticks to the cake on those variables, which is why the scoring is lower than expected.
Despite this the cake finishes with an overall rating of 7.5 which means it has pipped both the aforementioned recipes to be the table topper. This just goes to show that one dire score - such as the Kiwi & Cake and Fish Sticks have for XP - can have a massive impact on their chances of being the best all-rounder.
For 6 hour dishes, that is a title that belongs to the Technicolor Cake, the latest to enrol in the Recipe Hall of Fame!
