Game update: 11/12/13

With Christmas now a fortnight away (what?!) the festive goals are here.

Notification for latest Christmas 2013 update

Tis the season to get busy on the goals and decorate your restaurant for the holidays. Here's a comprehensive list of all the new content this week:

Tables:
  • Log Table - locked by goal
Chairs:
  • Log Chair - 4,500 coins
Wall decorations:
  • Cabin Window - 6,950 coins
  • Joy Sign - 6,000 coins
Floor decorations:
  • White Christmas Tree - locked by goal
  • Christmas Visitor - locked by goal
Wallpapers:
  • Log Cabin - 2,850 coins
Floor tiles:
  • Christmas Rug - 800 coins
Appliances:
  • Cocoa Maker - locked by goal
  • Christmas Feast Oven - locked by goal
Counters:
  • Snowman Counter - locked by goal
Boxes:
  • Sleigh Crate - 24 gems

So with the exception of the box, every single new item costs coins, with a large chunk of them unlockable through the goals.

Introduction to Christmas 2013 goals

For all the details relating to the goals, see here. They don't expire until well into the New Year, but I suggest getting going on them pronto as who wants to unlock Christmas content after the event? And within the goals there are two new appliances to unlock - a report of all the recipes on them should be up this weekend.

Aside from the goals, I'm pleased with the update. The lack of gem items is bliss, and since this is a goals update, we naturally get cheaper coin items too.

The Log Table and Log Chair are good in the sense that they aren't specifically Christmassy. So they are suitable for those who don't celebrate Christmas and for a wintry themed diner. However they're not the most pretty of pieces, and don't look like they'd be comfortable to sit on and eat at!

But no worries, because the Log Cabin wallpaper is superb in my opinion. The designers have done a top job on this one, with the shading helping to create a more three-dimensional feel. And to add to my delight, the Cabin Window wall decoration makes a great combination with the wallpaper.

I'm not sure what the other wall decoration - the Joy Sign - is all about. It doesn't look festive whatsoever and would fit well in a toddlers' nursery.

 Christmas 2013
 04/12/13 First update

The Christmas Rug floor tile may not be the snowy flooring I called for last week, but it's nice all the same. In fact, it will look good around the Holiday Choir from last year's Christmas goals which has a Christmassy red tone to it.

Then there are the two floor decorations which are both goal items. I've already unlocked the White Christmas Tree, and can reveal it is a brilliant decoration. It's not overly complicated, is 2x2 in size, and compliments the other items I have which have snow on them (the Gingerbread Dividers from last year plus the Holiday Lights Table and Chair). Meanwhile the Christmas Visitor looks to be massive, but that's all I can garner from the tiny image in Design Mode.

Lastly, there is a new box. It's unusual to see a box included in the goals update - it usually comes later, so I'm curious to see what is released over the next couple of weeks. Last year's holiday content maybe?

Anyhow, the Sleigh Crate costs 24 gems and gives the buyer a lucky dip of nine possible prizes. The distribution of the prizes is as follows:

First Prize (1% chance)
  • Elf Workshop
Second Prize (10% chance)
  • Reindeer Stable
  • Holiday Bistro
Third Prize (35% chance)
  • Crystal Angels
  • Tree of Lights
Fourth Prize (54% chance)
  • Red Nose Reindeer
  • Nutcracker Waiter
  • Snowy Tree
  • Ice Sculpture Tree

If any of the items listed are named incorrectly, please leave a comment below!

Of the items I've seen, the Reindeer Stable is the most appealing. It features two cute reindeer standing outside a well decorated stable complete with snow and lights. A lovely prize. You can view this and the other box prizes by scouring the latest threads in the TeamLava Forum.

So a bumper update to really get the that festive feeling flowing. Season's greetings everyone!

  1. Looks like the nutcracker waiter from the box is holding the peppermint cocoa from the new machines. I really like these touches recently; almost enough to get me to try a shot at the box!

    1. So he is! A good spot!

I wonder if the other food on the tray is from the other new appliance? We'll find out soon! :)

    2. Not from the other new appliance, but it looks like it's the peppermint cake roll released this week on the oven. So peppermint cocoa and peppermint cake roll together, a very nice touch!
