Basketball goals content report

On Wednesday a new set of goals were released. Within there were six items to unlock plus six recipes. Since my game update post was released on the day the goals came out, I didn't have a chance to give much analysis of the goal content, so will so in this report.

Overall I'm not that excited by the stuff available. The Jumboscreen Counter is a nice idea, but looks daft because it should obviously be hanging from the roof. If you think about it nobody would really be able to see the screens properly as they'd be below waist height!

The Basketball Hoop Lamp is another item which doesn't enthuse me, not least because of the 32,000 coin price tag. With the focus in this update clearly on constructing a basketball court, we quite simply can't because the hoop can only be orientated two ways, which are 90 degrees apart. So you can't have a basket at each end of the court. And the lamp within the basket might also be a problem for the players...

On the plus side, the Nothin' But Net Table does look good. I covered it in the main update post, but to reiterate I do like the way that it's shaped around the hoop and basket, and topped with the shiny glass which always conveys a feel of cleanliness and sleekness.

The last decoration to unlock is the Halftime Show.

Halftime Show

This final goal prize is 4x4 in size and consists of a cheerleader troupe with three members standing on the shoulders of another five. It's actually a cool piece and would fit well in the centre of the court.

Now let's take in the recipes. I've scrapped the recipe reports (in favour of this new report) since they were becoming so repetitive due to the inferior recipes being released, and thus no longer merit their own post.

You can analyse these recipes for yourself using my recipe list located here.

Recipes on Sweet Shot Oven

The Sweet Shot Oven recipes are all puddings at best, snacks at worst. I'd much rather see these added to the Basic Oven over in Bakery Story and let us have some serious meals instead, but the addition of new dishes in Bakery seems to have been prohibited.

The Bank Shot Cupcake is a perfect match for the Pretzel Dog (Birthday Party Oven) but has statistics as far from perfect as could possibly be.

The Swish Brownie Pops give the worst XP gain yet as far as 4 hour goal recipes are concerned, although the profit and portion numbers do trump most of those dishes. However there are plenty of 4 hour duration recipes which blow it out of the water, such as Garlic Noodles (Basic Stove) and Smores (Basic Oven).

Finally the Slam Dunk Cake closely mirrors the Steamed Mussels (Sunken Stove). It's the same story here - could do much better. Pumpkin Cheesecake (Basic Oven) is probably the leading 8 hour dish, and it's 4,230 coin profit and 126 XP dwarfs this cake considerably.

Let's now take a look at the recipes on the Halftime Oven:

Recipes on Halftime Oven

Starting with the Ultimate Party Dip, it's very similar to the Sweet Pie Soup (Basic Stove) which was a Valentine's Day release this year. And a clanger.

Next is the Hoops Burger. Its 73 XP gain is actually alright, although not remarkable. The profit and portions bring this one down - both are among the lowest for 6 hour recipes.

The Benchwarmer Pizza is the last goal recipe. It is below par all-round, and brings a close to the trend of the 12 hour goal dish having an excellent XP return (this was the case in the last three sets of goals). The Tiramisu (Basic Oven) yields 7,200 coins profit and 118 XP, which trumps this pizza with ease.

So the goal recipes are not worth continuing to cook after earning the mastery gems. Again.

That covers everything. Now we just have to wait and see if the basketball theme is continued next week. I get the feeling it won't be even though it's a goals theme. Whether that means that we might get some brand new St Patrick's Day content or Spring content is anyone's guess, but now would be a good time!

  1. My thoughts about the recipes are purely cosmetic, as there's not much to say, content wise, about this mess.

    1) What is going on with the Ultimate Dip? Who eats just a plate of dip without anything to...dip?! I find that plate of mush to be very unsettling.

    2) What is on top of the Hoops Burger? If it's a slice of cheese or a bun, why are there two more of them on the side of the plate? And if it's not a bun, why doesn't the burger have a top bun?

These are the important issues that keep fat bear up at night. :P Rawr!

    1. I've got all the answers...

      1) There's something in the dip which looks very much like severed fingers. So it looks like its these that are for dipping, so rather than having the strenuous task of dipping in and out, you only have to do the latter.

      2) I assume that it is a bun on top of the burger. Which then implies that those are mini buns on the side. Aha! So those mini buns are for the dip!

My concern lies with the Benchwarmer Pizza - has it been cooked on a basketball team's hot and sweaty bench? Yuck. :P
