Pizza goals content report

Last week's update brought with it a new set of goals with an Italian theme. Pizzas in particular were being cooked, and since I've now unlocked all the goal items, it seems only right to take a look at them.

We start with the three floor decorations accessible only by completing the goals. The Pizza Display is a cabinet with a selection of pizzas within. It uses the same shape as the many display cases over in Bakery Story, yet is only the second such decoration Restaurant Story has had after the Sandwich Display. I like it although do harbour concerns about the pizzas themselves, which seem to be slightly oval-shaped rather than circular. I suspect this is a result of the game's developers trying to implement some perspective as the shelves of the display are sloping, but I think they've gone a little overboard.

Regardless it's a nice piece, as is the Pizza Delivery Bike. There's nothing too flamboyant about the bike - it's just a typical looking delivery bike - and that's fine by me. The versatility of it is a real positive as it can be placed not only in a pizzeria setting but also in an outdoor area.

The final goal prize is the Pizza Toss. A 4x4 behemoth, this might just be the greatest goal item ever! The level of detail is supreme, from the cook tossing some dough and the pizza oven at the back to the pile of napkins and pizza cutter. Clearly TeamLava have taken a lot of time to produce this decoration, and it hasn't disappointed. The lack of any checkered flooring attached to the item is also satisfying as we are given the freedom to place the Pizza Toss wherever and however we see fit.

The goals as a whole have been really well-received from what I've seen. They've generated lots of discussion and inspired lots of refurbishing, not least because the theme is actually restaurant based. This makes finding ways to incorporate the new stuff much easier. I'm among those who have found reason to get busy, and have made some modifications to my kitchen section:

Italian themed section and Kitchen section of The Garlic Tree

I never expected to be expanding my kitchen zone, but the Pizza Toss is just too good a prize to leave in storage. At first I considered using it in my outdoor area as its brick walls would have permitted it, but with Autumn coming this didn't seem a wise move. To incorporate the Pizza Toss as an add-on to the kitchen required the entrance point to the neighbouring section to be shifted, and this in turn has led to my tables and chairs of the main area being rearranged.

The effect on my kitchen is fewer appliances on the floor. In fact I only have room for 16, with even less on show at present. This would have been a problem in the past, but having recently achieved mastery (sort of) across all the recipes in the game, there's no urgent need to have a full compliment of cookers on show.

An Italian theme has been implemented on the other side of the Pizza Toss, with the Aged Brick counter and Pizza Display from the latest update utilised. Meanwhile the wall is adorned by the Aged Brick wallpaper and the Pizza Menu. I opted to install the Aged Brick wallpaper all the way round the kitchen section (previously it was just the plain Dark Grey) but am unsure if I'll stick with this as it doesn't really work with the blue of the Swedish Kitchen.

For the rest of my Italian zone, I've made effective use of existing decor. I was unsure of it at the time, but the Red and White floor tiles have proven a good investment having now fitted with a pizzeria as well as a retro diner. The Leaning Tower of Pizza is a cool floor item for coins, and it's nice to finally have reason to place it, while the Italian Checkered tables, although for gems, are the right choice in my eyes to complete the theme. The table and chair offered in the goals are just too garish for me.

All that's left to report on now are the two new appliances and their accompanying recipes. The Salad Station actually works really nicely as a decoration. Again I've found a benefit to having mastered everything - ornamental appliances are now acceptable! Likewise the Wood Burning Oven is a well-designed cooker, and could be a permanent feature in my kitchen too. Something noteworthy is that the Wood Burning Oven is the first ever appliance (to my knowledge) where you can't actually see what is being prepared on it. It looks the same with or without a pizza on the go, which is a first.

As for the dishes found on each of these appliances? Well before I rip them to shreds, it should be pointed out that this release is something of a milestone - we've now surpassed 400 recipes in the game's history. That includes those from past goals and those which have been removed. But unfortunately the gamemakers haven't seen fit to mark the occasion with some top foods. First up is the Salad Station:

Let's let the recipe ratings do the talking...

Caesar Salad
Profit XP gain Portions Profit per plate Availability Rating
1 6 1 7 5 3.3

Italian Salad
Profit XP gain Portions Profit per plate Availability Rating
2 7 1 10 5 4.3

Pomegranate Salad
Profit XP gain Portions Profit per plate Availability Rating
2 3 2 10 5 3.3

There's not much to add here. The only good things to say are with regards to the XP gain of the Caesar Salad and Italian Salad. They both do okay, with the Caesar Salad in particular coming out well - it is the fourth highest XP earner among 2 hour recipes, although is some distance behind the Disco Fries. Otherwise each of these three dishes is a dud.

Now for the food on the Wood Burning Oven:

And the inevitable...

Cheese Pizza
Profit XP gain Portions Profit per plate Availability Rating
2 7 1 10 5 4.3

Hawaiian Pizza
Profit XP gain Portions Profit per plate Availability Rating
2 3 2 10 5 3.3

Combination Pizza
Profit XP gain Portions Profit per plate Availability Rating
2 6 2 10 5 4.2

It's another poor batch. See that the Cheese Pizza's numbers are very similar to those of the Italian Salad (both 4 hour recipes) and consequently they have identical ratings. Likewise the two 6 hour dishes - the Hawaiian Pizza and Pomegranate Salad - mirror each other.

So in conclusion a horrid set of recipes, but a sensational selection of goal prizes. Following on from the Ancient Egypt goals, it's another update which has invoked excitement around the community which is fantastic to see. It's another resounding thumbs up from me - well done TeamLava!

  1. I love the Pizza Toss, but I am having a huge problem positioning it as it disappears whenever I rotate it.

At first, I thought it was a lag issue, but I have left it rotated for a couple days now, and I still can't see it. I don't want to rethink my whole floor plan, but I don't want to decorate "blindly" either.

Sadly, I think the issue is with my specific device as my neighbors are able to see it even when I can't. So disappointing! Sigh.

    1. It seems obvious but firstly make sure you've tried the following:

      A) Put the Pizza Toss into storage and then place it again
      B) Force close the app

If neither of these actions have an effect, then it may be that you need to clear your cache. Whichever device you play on there should be instructions on how to do this online somewhere.

And if this doesn't fix it then you'll want to get in touch with TeamLava via support@teamlava.com. :)

    3. Igloo, thank you so much for your troubleshooting suggestions. I tried them all, but, unfortunately, the issue persists. Interestingly, I unlocked the Coffee Shop in BS this morning, and I can't see that either (in any orientation!)

I will try updating both apps when I get home and see if that helps. If not, I will e-mail TeamLava.

      Again, thanks for your help.

  2. Update: Tried "Clear Data" instead of "Clear Cache" in Application Manager, and the Pizza Toss shows now!
