Recipe ratings (12 hours)

Information in this post is correct as of Saturday 27th September 2014.

In the recipe ratings journey, attention now turns to the 12 hour dishes.

There are 29 recipes of this duration have appeared in the game. Four of them are either removed foods or are based on a removed appliance so aren't currently available to cook, while another eight are goal recipes. That leaves 17 dishes which are accessible to all.

This time we're going to kick off with the portions factor. The leader in this variable is the Chicken Tenders (Basic Oven) with a very tasty 2,900 portions for each batch. This places it high on the portions per hour table which covers all recipe lengths. The only recipe of longer length which performs better is the 16 hour BBQ Chicken from the Basic Grill.

As you can see above, although the Chicken Tenders do admirably when it comes to portions, elsewhere it is less remarkable. Its XP gain is among the poorest in the duration, and the profit figure isn't much more than mediocre.

On occasions in the past we've seen a correlation between profit and portions, where scoring strongly in one factor results in a strong rating in the other. This is not applicable here because the tenders are a rare case of a food which doesn't give 4 coins per plate. Instead it yields only 2 coins per plate, meaning that the profit potential is half of what you'd have expected from the portions number. This is also the reasoning for the tenders hitting the red for profit per plate. Beyond mastery, you should only really target this one if you're struggling to stack the counters.

For a big profit merchant, we have to take a look at the Tiramisu (Basic Oven).

Unlocked at level 55, the Tiramisu is by some distance the top 12 hour coins earner, with a 900 coins gap down to the next best dish, the Beef Chow Mein (Basic Oven). Indeed Gravlax (Swedish Stove) - which came third in the 10 hour recipe ratings battle - is the only recipe which gives more profit per hour than the Tiramisu. If you're looking to maximise profit and are embarking on a long working day, then the Tiramisu is an excellent option to put on at 7am, ready for serving at 7pm.

Since it does well with both profit and portions, the Tiramisu blasts its way past the Chicken Tenders overall. However, there is still room for improvement when it comes to XP. Is the leading 12 hour offering for XP capable of toppling the Tiramisu overall? Well, the contender is the Farmers Market Salsa (Basic Oven), a recipe which was added this summer.

The salsa produces a startling 175 XP for each batch. That is an enormous return, which makes it the ideal choice if you're not around but want to level up quickly. The Tiramisu is actually the second best XP maker among 12 hour dishes, but a 57 XP chasm between the two gives rise to the six scored by the Tiramisu.

And the Farmers Market Salsa enters the charts in third place for profit and fourth for portions, meaning it has done just enough to pip the Tiramisu! The only drawback to the salsa is the long wait to unlock it - not until level 72 does it become available, but once it is this is your go to food for all-round performance. A well-earned slot in the Recipe Hall of Fame me thinks!

  1. Lately, I find that my food is piling up. I don't know if it's because I have more appliance slots as I am progressing, or if there has been some change made to the game.

I normally don't update the app, but I did update it for some troubleshooting about a week ago, and I think that's when I started to notice the food selling more slowly.

Have you noticed this, or is it just me?

    1. I haven't noticed this myself, nor have I seen any other players reporting it.

Obviously more slots means more food served, and assuming the amount you can sell in a day is constant, this inevitably leads to more food piling up.

I think this is all you're witnessing, although it might be best to keep an eye on it! :)
