In no particular order, here are this month's entries...
#56: Something new for reaching level 99
It takes many months to achieve the top level in the game. I've spouted about having further levels before, but this time I'm going to show some restraint and just suggest that we have something nice as a reward for joining the level 99 club, because at present it's all much of a damp squib.
Congratulations window for reaching level 99 |
It could be as simple as a massive coin reward - I'm talking up to a million coins here! Or maybe a particularly spectacular set of items could be unlocked, so spectacular that your neighbours who have yet to reach the climax are really jealous.
But here's an idea that would be great. How about reaching level 99 opens up a new level of mastery for all the recipes. Mastery to level 5 could be a gigantic challenge, with even more batches of a dish needed than in level 4 mastery to reap the reward. The prize for level 5 mastery doesn't even need to be any more sensational than at level 4 - I'd quite happily take an extra gem from every food!
#57: Vary colours of crockery
The Ancient Egyptian update has been a hit with the players from what I've observed. They've provided us with some excellent designs and inspired some fantastic decorating. But one of the aspects of the update which satisfied me most was the inclusion of some different styles of crockery!
Previous Suggestion Box posts
The three recipes on the Ancient Sands Stove are all served up with a beige bowl or plate, which is a break from the usual blue. It doesn't sound like a serious change (and it isn't!) but it was good to see something different. It's alterations like this which help keep the game fresh.
So let's have some more variations in the colours of crockery for new dishes. Every colour of the rainbow should be involved somewhere along the line, and fancy patterns wouldn't go amiss either!
#58: Allow scrolling in market
This is a simple one. When you enter the recipe list on any of the Basic appliances there are two ways to navigate. The first is to tap the left and right arrows and the second is to scroll through the list with your finger. Yet the same cannot be said of the market.
Within design mode you can only move around using the arrows. And with many more objects here than in the recipe list it can be quite a chore to tap all the way through the floor decorations tab to get hold of your Petting Zoo. So I'm calling on the gamemakers to allow the same scrolling action in the market as is permitted in the recipe lists. Nothing flashy needed here, just a more efficient way to sift through the ever increasing market.
#59: Allow gems to be gifted
I've recently taken up playing another of TeamLava's titles, Fantasy Forest Story. It has a concept similar in many ways to Restaurant Story, including the notion of having neighbours who you can gift to once a day. However in Fantasy Forest Story there's only one thing you can send to your chums - gems.
'Send gifts' window in Fantasy Forest Story |
This isn't the only TeamLava game in which gems can be exchanged, but it's something that doesn't exist in Restaurant Story. There are restrictions - you can only send one gem per neighbour, and only to three neighbours daily. But this is better than what us lot in Restaurant Story get right now. Let's have some generosity from the game's developers in allowing gems to be sent as gifts!
#60: Introduce alcoholic drinks
Okay, it's a long shot. But let's have some shots.
There are plenty of drinks in the game, with many of them added in the last few months in goal updates. But the notable absentee is an alcoholic beverage. Now I understand that this app is played by plenty of young folk (plus the in-game customers are young!) so including booze would be unwise, but I'm feeling really parched here!
Let's have some alcohol introduced, ranging from beer and wine to whiskey and exotic cocktails!
I like all the suggestions you listed this month, and I'd like to comment on #59 and #60 if I may;
ReplyDeleteI've played many of TeamLava's games, primarily because Restaurant Story asks me to. And with up to 15 gems available if you are prepared to play those certain games to a particular level, I've more than just installed them, I've gotten those gems!
You are absolutely right; many of the other TeamLava games allow players to gift gems (at a limited rate). But more importantly, in comparison with the other TL games, RS seems fairly cheap with their gem offerings. Many of the other games allow quest prizes as large as 20 or 30 (elite currency of particular game). I understand that RS has it's own gem item prices, and therefore lower priced items mean less gem availability, however all this aside, RS is very cheap with giving out gems.
I have to be honest, I really enjoy the parts and food gifting system of RS, it allows the development of your own particular strategy as to whether you are looking to build a new appliance, have just started playing and would prefer food, or want to stockpile parts in preparation for goal weeks. In addition to this it forces players to be more social, ie. write on each other's walls requesting certain parts or food.
Therefore if not allowing players to gift gems daily, at least provide more opportunities to earn gems; I believe this was discussed in your Suggestion Box a few months back regarding the Badges tab in RS which are mastered rather early and then just sit there for the rest of your playing life.
We would all love more gems, regardless of how we can earn them!
I found your alcoholic beverage suggestion very interesting and potentially controversial. Personally, I would also love to see some alcoholic drinks in the game, I would love to see more drinks full stop. In fact I remembered when I discovered that the Saloon Bar was a goal item which I could never unlock, I was so disappointed. In saying this, I have seen two different bars in the game; Saloon and Sports. A 'bar' is rather alcohol specific, and if bars are in the game, why not drinks to go with them?
This would be controversial though, as you mentioned many young people play this game, and this is an all inclusive game for any age, for people all over the world. Call me too politically correct, or boring, but I would suggest a more subtle approach to including alcohol in the game;
Include drinks and items which could be considered alcoholic, or not, dependant on your age and/or preference. My best example is the Cider Bar item. For many people this is just a fancy apple juice stand, however for me (someone who loves alcoholic cider) I would buy it, display it, and think of it as an alcoholic cider bar.
With regards to drinks, I was thinking something along the lines of Egg Nog, Cider, Ginger Beer, Malt Beverage, (insert any popular cocktail name). All drinks which may, or may not contain alcohol. Also could be advertised in the game in this subtle way "Enjoy some festive 'cheer' with the new Egg Nog drink".
I'm sorry for going overboard on the comments, but I had thought of this alcoholic suggestion recently so was excited to discuss it on here.
Thanks again!
I enjoy the tactical way of gifting food and/or parts too, but that doesn't mean we can't have gems available to gift with heavy constraints too. I don't think there's a Suggestions Box has ever gone by without an idea which involves the players getting more gems!
DeleteAs for drinks, I think you've made an excellent point. We've already got the Root Beer Float and Apple Cider which could be interpreted in more than one way, and this is surely the way forward. The ambiguous drinks don't leave TeamLava at risk of getting into trouble and satisfy those of us who do want to see alcoholic beverages. :)
Right now recipes are arranged in what is a very random fashion. You can click breakfast, lunch, etc. to help, but whether a food item is a breakfast, lunch or dinner item is subject to debate. My dinner item may be your lunch item. I am constantly scrolling back and forth to find an item.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if there were button to click and arrange the recipes either alphabetically or by cooking time. Now that would be a great feature!
Totally agree with this suggestion! Would be super handy..
DeleteThis is definitely something that would improve the game! I actually covered something similar in the very first Suggestions Box, with my sorting based around the stats of the recipes, including durations.
DeleteHowever the alphabetical suggestion is one I didn't think of, and would certainly be useful when you're not sure of the duration of the dish you're looking for. :)
indeed, i would like to order them by status. if i have a mastered receipe, to appear at the end of the list.
Deletei would like to add a suggestion on gems. they can add a feature like " every 10 000 neighbours tipped, you get a gem( this can also improve star ratings), or buy gems for large amount of game money eg100 mil coins. what do you think?
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this! Maybe 10,000 neighbour visits is a bit excessive though! It would definitely be a motivator for players to travel around their neighbourhood. And in doing so you are obviously playing the game for greater amounts of time, which can only please TeamLava!
DeleteAs for exchanging coins for gems, I've actually covered this before in the Suggestions Box, It's notable in its absence considering you can do the converse, but of course allowing this exchange would probably have a detrimental effect on gem sales. :)
That's a good idea- just two m
