Countdown to content removal (wall decorations)

A removal of 'Winter holiday content' took place on Tuesday 7th January 2014. Only Christmas content was removed. More information can be found here.

Let me take you back to 3rd January 2013...

A pop-up appears to every player on every TeamLava game, and it informs that all holiday content from 2012 will be removed on the 7th. Chaos ensues as players frantically try to decide what is and what isn't 'holiday content', before invading Design mode to buy up items expected to go and desperately trying to master seasonal recipes.

It was a bit of a shambles in all honesty. Only four days notice of a whole raft of unnamed items and dishes being removed with no promise of any returning at any time in the future. So as that time approaches again, here's a guide as to what you should do.

The definition of 'holiday content' is a dodgy one - Valentine's Day, Halloween and Christmas clearly all fall into this bracket, but what about Summer, Autumn, Carnival and Cruise themed items? So for the sake of taking no chances I'm going to class anything added this year as at risk.

Every week I'm posting a list of items released in 2013 for a certain category, comprising of the nine tabs of Design mode and the recipes. This week's feature are the wall decorations...

Last updated Thursday 2nd January 2014.

(*) These wall decorations were a 2011 or 2012 removal, but have been re-added in 2013. They are expected to be removed again this year. The Christmas decoration among these is set to be removed shortly.

(**) This wall decoration is unlockable through the Gran-Gran goals.

(***) These wall decorations are 'in season' so may be removed in the near future in a removal of the same format as the Halloween content removal.

Altogether there are 53 wall decorations up for removal in the New Year. There's no certainty over which ones will go, so purchase any you like soon.

There are also 8 other wall decorations which were removed in the Halloween content removal on Friday 15th November 2013, so are not included in the above table. Likewise another was removed on Tuesday 26th November 2013, so is also not included.

  1. As much as I appreciate these posts (quite a lot), they do make me despair of ever expanding my restaurant again. So many things to buy before they maybe disappear; it's impossible to build up coin reserves. The content removal definitely brings out the worst of my pack rat tendencies...

I was wondering how you're making these lists. Is it from your own back catalog of posts where you've listed what's added each week or is there another way to know what's new from this year? I also play bakery, so I was wondering how I'd go about making a similar list for that game.

Finally, do you add neighbors from blog comments? And can you delete a comment if I leave my ID here? I don't really want it to be posted forever, but I'd love to see the Garlic Tree in "person". :)

    1. Show some restraint! Building up lots of coins is definitely difficult at this time of year, both because of the removals pending and the multitude of goal sets there have been too.

The lists are constructed mainly from my archive of game update posts over the year. But for updates prior to the launch of the blog in February I had to search through past threads from the TeamLava Forums. It's a long process, but it would be possible to do the same for Bakery Story.

I've yet to add anyone through the blog - if you post your ID as a comment on this page, I'd be delighted to add you, and I'll remove the comment as soon as I can :)

    2. Restraint, yes... Or! I could think that there's a tiny chance that I'll want 40 of some decoration that I don't even really like, ages from now, for a theme I haven't dreamed up yet! Then what!?!

I was worried you'd say that's what you had done to make this list. I really appreciate you doing it for restaurant; I suspect I'll just wing it on the bakery side of things. What could go wrong? (Other than them removing things I don't like but may want, gah!)

Maybe I should rename the restaurant Fat Pack Rat...

    3. Ha, I've been known to buy items 'in advance' for a future theme that hasn't come to pass. I've got a pool table I payed 20 gems which has sat in storage from the day I bought it!

As for Bakery, it might be best to just buy up anything that's a going! At the end of the day once items are removed they're gone forever whereas the expansions etc. will always be around (even if we can't ever afford them!)

I've sent you an invite btw :)
