Game update: 11/09/13

It's that time of the week again...

Notification for Old West update

The notification may promote a continuation of the musical theme, but in reality, we're returning to the Old West to complete some goals with this update. Here's a list of all the new content:

Tables:
  • Wagon Wheel Table - locked by goal
Chairs:
  • Saddle Stool - 4,000 coins
Wall decorations:
  • Wanted Poster - 6,800 coins
  • Old West Lantern - 6,500 coins
Floor decorations:
  • Cactus - 12,000 coins
  • Saloon Bar - locked by goal
  • Saloon Card Table - locked by goal
Wallpapers:
  • Old Saloon - 2,600 coins
Appliances:
  • Old West Oven - locked by goal
  • Saloon Stove - locked by goal
Counters:
  • Dynamite Counter - locked by goal
Boxes:
  • Melody Box - 24 gems

The box is an addition to the musical theme which ran last week but is the only item relating to this theme.

Everything else is about the Old West and costs coins, with a lot of the content only accessible by completing the goals. For all the details on the goals, see here.

Introduction to Old West goals

While on the subject of the goals, I should stress that you're probably best not to buy any of the new items just yet as you'll have to do so in the goals.

My first impressions of this update are wholly positive. The Wild West is a theme with plenty of possibilities, and has actually been done before on Restaurant Story. We had a Western themed update at the end of February which had some cool things, and now this update further deepens the range of Wild West content.

There's some really nice items in this update, including the Wanted Poster and Cactus. Even the Dynamite Counter shows some great imagination on TeamLava's part.

Considering this theme is significant enough to come with a set of goals, I'm surprised that there isn't any new floor tile. But I wouldn't worry too much as the Frontier Floor from the previous Western update is still available and for coins.

The items which are goal rewards are either available for coins or given free, so overall there's some superb value in this week's update. Only the Melody Box costs gems which is fair enough. The only things from this box I've been able to find so far are the following:

Second Prize (10% chance)
  • Grand Strand Piano
Third Prize (35% chance)
  • Piano Couch
Fourth Prize (54% chance)
  • Music Note Holder
  • Piano Cake

Meanwhile the two appliances which are unlocked via the goals contain three recipes each. So another 12 gems available. Nice. Detailed analysis of those new dishes can be located here.

I'm definitely tempted to add an Old West themed section to my restaurant in the near future since there's so much cool content, topped with two wonderful goal prizes. The Saloon Bar and Saloon Card Table are large and worthy pieces. So a set of goals well worth completing!

  2. The previous Western theme I mentioned was a one week only update without any goals. The Wagon Wheel Table is unlocked via the new set of goals released this week. You should be able to access them by tapping a clipboard on the left side of your screen :)
