Game update: 04/09/13

We enter September with another new theme.

Notification for musical themed update

It's time to face the music, with a variety of music related content. Here's a list of everything added to the game:

Tables:
  • Music Table - 2 gems
Chairs:
  • Music Chair - 19,500 coins
Wall decorations:
  • Musical River - 23,000 coins
Floor decorations:
  • Note Statue - 9 gems
  • Musical Couch - 54,000 coins
Wallpapers:
  • Classical Music - 26,000 coins
Floor tiles:
  • Sheet Music - 1 gem
Counters:
  • Musical Counter - 5 gems

So quite a few things for us to sing about.

First up, I like the theme. All the content matches well. But not only that, it adds to previously released music items such as the Musical wallpaper and Musical Notes floor tile.

The Musical Couch really catches my eye, as sofas like this tend to be available for gems. At 54,000 coins I think it's good value.

But it's among the few things which are good value. Because the Music Chair is a pricy addition with its counterpart the Music Table costing gems. The 26,000 coins for the Classical Music wallpaper and the 1 gem for a Sheet Music floor tile also represent poor value in my opinion because you are likely to be planning to buy several of these.

So the best solution may be to take a mix of the new musical content and the existing musical content. For example, the existing wallpaper and floor tile I mentioned earlier are both cheap coin items. So that could save you a small fortune.

This is becoming a sad song, but I'm also a little letdown by the lack of goals. I predicted last week that we'd get a new goal set, and the preview on the TeamLava Blog of this update actually heightened my expectation! Plus the Under the Sea goals expired on Tuesday so it was logical to think a new batch of goals may be in the offing.

Whatever the case, they surely can't be far away.

There is also a new recipe on the Basic Oven:

This is a pedantic point, but I'm frustrated at the number of cupcake recipes now in the game. Only a couple of updates ago we had Pirate Cupcakes added, and there are also an array of other cupcake dishes too. Now I'm not anti-cupcakes, far from it (I have been known to rustle some up in real life!) but I'd like to see TeamLava use their imagination a bit more when coming up with themed recipes.

Anyway, this recipe ranks well. Last week I rated the Airline Dinner (Basic Stove) as a winner, and the Musical Cupcakes matches it. It actually has a slightly higher XP gain but this is offset by a slightly smaller profit. Like last week, I'd highlight Stuffed Lamb as the only dish to cook instead due to its exceptional XP, but it does come with much fewer portions and profit, so it really depends whether you want to level up quickly.

As usual this snack currently sits at the start of the Basic Oven's recipe list, but it will be moved to a later point at a later point (does that make sense?)

Musical Cupcakes have now been moved - it is positioned between Pirate Cupcakes and Rack of Lamb.

On that subject, the Smoked Turkey Lamb and Pirate Cupcakes both released two weeks back are now positioned between the Smoked Salmon Potato and Rack of Lamb.

So that's it for this week. Music to our ears? Not quite, but it's not a racket either!
